5. Fabio Coentrao

Benoit Assou-Ekotto faces an uncertain future at White Hart Lane this summer after claiming he wants to play for a Champions League club this season instead of participate in what he calls "the useless Europa League" and could be allowed to leave
"if a great club comes in". One potential replacement for the Cameroon international is Real Madrid's wing-back Fabio Coentrao. Tottenham's Gareth Bale continues to be the subject of undying speculation that he is about to be sold to Real, with reports that the Spanish champions could use one or two of their players
as makeweights in the deal. Portugal international Coentrao has been one of those players mooted as a potential player the Spanish giants would be prepared to use as part-exchange, and Spurs do need a new left-back. If Tottenham do end up losing Bale - which now appears to be an inevitability - they might as well see if they can bolster areas of their squad in the process, as well as raking in a monster fee, of course. Coentrao could lend Spurs some much-needed defensive stability this season and at just 25 is a world class player.
