Spurs Transfers: Musacchio Future To Be Resolved Soon
If the defender travels to Astana, Spurs' chances of signing him will likely be gone.
The Express believe that Tottenham Hotspur are set to find out imminently if their summer-long pursuit of Mateo Musacchio is going to end with their acquisition of the player. Musacchio's club, Villarreal, travel to the Kazakhstan capital of Astana this evening for their Europa League qualifying play-off round first leg tie with FC Astana on Thursday. If Musacchio is on the plane with the rest of his team-mates, the deal will likely be off. If he is absent, it would likely indicate that a move is still on the cards. Musacchio's fellow Argentinian - Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino - has been keen to shore up Spurs' leaky defence since joining the club from Southampton earlier in the summer and he has already signed Michel Vorm as goalkeeping back-up and Ben Davies to make the left back position more competitive, with both players arriving from Swansea City. Musacchio has been his main target to potentially partner Jan Vertonghen in central defence in Spurs' first choice eleven and it seems that a climax to the ongoing saga is just around the corner. Villarreal boss Garcia Toral believes that Musacchio's future is likely to be resolved in the next few days, but he is refusing to say for certain whether he will remain at the Spanish club. That said, he seems quietly confident that the former River Plate man will stay. He said: We expect a definitive solution for this week. I believe that Musacchio will stay with us but I cannot confirm this 100 per cent." Musacchio has two caps for Argentina and has started the season well for Villarreal, despite the constant speculation about his future. Do you think Mateo Musacchio will end up joining Spurs?
