Spurs Transfers: New First Team XI Based On Rumours

1. Romelu Lukaku - Chelsea (Striker)

Media Image LtdMedia Image LtdHaving long been linked to White Hart Lane, it comes as no surprise that the press are making Romelu Lukaku one of the main subjects of discussion regarding a potential move to Spurs this summer. The Chelsea striker has made no secret of his desire to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis, having been shipped out on loan to West Bromwich Albion and Everton respectively in the last two seasons - both spells in which he has impressed and scored goals - and having seen the club sign Diego Costa over the summer. Lukaku played for Belgium at the current World Cup - a campaign that saw his team eliminated by finalists Argentina in the quarter-finals - and he didn't really impress, apart from in his substitute appearance against the United States of America in round two. A a proven Premier League goalscorer, he would certainly be the answer to Spurs' goalscoring prayers - something they've struggled with in recent seasons - and he seems like a very realistic possible signing, unlike some of the players on this list. And just to further highlight how crazy the press get regarding Spurs, the club have also been linked with Tim Krul, Alberto Moreno, Marcelo, Miguel Lopes, Ashley Cole (who has since moved to Roma), Ricardo Rodriguez, John O'Shea, Jamaal Lascelles, Toby Alderweireld, Joel Veltman, Marcelo Brozovich, Juan Bernat, Yacine Brahimi, Adam Lallana (who has since moved to Liverpool), Divock Origi, Enner Valencia, Jay Rodriguez, Javier Hernandez and Wilfried Bony, to name but a few. Anyone would think the press just make some of this stuff up... So there you have it - the completely new Spurs first team (and many more) that the White Hart Lane club have been linked with this summer. Do you think the press go a bit too crazy in general when transfer windows open? Is the Spurs fascination getting on your nerves? Who do you think Spurs should actually sign this summer?
