ended their interest in the former Inter Milan man,
Esteban Cambiasso had been linked with the White Hart Lane club for weeks prior to that happening. As a 33 year old former Argentina international and Champions League, La Liga and Serie A winner, Cambiasso's experience and winning mentality could have been vital at Spurs - and the obvious national link to new manager Mauricio Pochettino heightened the potential link to the club - but it did seem odd that Spurs were said to be focusing on a man who plays in a position in which they already had an abundance of options (Sandro, Paulinho, Mousa Dembele, Nabil Bentaleb, Etienne Capoue etc).
