5. Morgan Schneiderlin - Southampton (Defensive Midfielder)

Anthony Devlin/PA Archive/Press Association ImagesLike Dejan Lovren before him, it was almost inevitable that
Morgan Schneiderlin would be linked to White Hart Lane following Mauricio Pochettino's move in the same direction but, like Esteban Cambiasso before him, it is also somewhat strange, given Spurs' abundance of options in his position already. The midfielder has impressed immensely in the Premier League - so much so that he was called up to France's full World Cup squad, having previously been on standby, after the withdrawals of injured pair Franck Ribéry and Clément Grenier - and has also reportedly attracted the interest of Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal. If indeed Spurs were to sign Schneiderlin, or indeed any other holding midfielder, they would surely need to sell one or two existing players in that position. As that seems unlikely at the moment, you should probably take rumours like this with a pinch of salt.
