Newcastle: St James' Park Timeline - A Visual History
2. An Early Derby
This image is thought to be from the Tyne-Wear derby of 1904, looking from what is now known as the Milburn Stand towards the East Stand.
Newcastle were hitting their stride as a real force in England at this time and the ground had gone through a major transformation. A new Gallowgate End was erected and terraces were installed on the other sides of the ground. A corrugated iron fence enclosed the ground and the capacity was announced at 30,000.
