Stoke City Transfer News: Oussama Assaidi Arrives On Loan From Liverpool

assaidi] Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi has completed his season-long loan move to Stoke City, Sky Sports reports. The 25-year old moved to Anfield last summer from SC Heerenveen, but he has struggled to make an impact playing just four times in the Premier League last season. Assaidi had attracted interest from a number of clubs who became alerted to his availability, notably Queens Park Rangers who are understood to have enquired about his services. The Morocco international, who has featured 13 times for his country, becomes Stoke City's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Erik Pieters from PSV Eindhoven, Marc Muniesa from Barcelona, and the pre-contract agreement that will see Juan Agudelo move to the Britannia Stadium in January 2014 from New England Revolution. With Brendan Rodgers strengthening the Liverpool squad, it became clear that Assaidi would slip further down the pecking order at his parent club and Mark Hughes has moved quickly to bring in a player that the Welshman thinks will add something a little different to the Potters' squad. The Stoke Manager told the official club website: "Oussama had a few options and I'm delighted he has chosen to join us. He is an exciting player who has great pace and is very direct." Hughes continued: "He will certainly add another dimension to what we already have at the club." Chief Executive Tony Scholes also believes Assaidi will give Stoke more creativity adding: "Mark identified the need to add more pace to the team and Oussama certainly fits the bill in that regard." "He is an exciting talent and will certainly strengthen the resources at Mark's disposal this season." Assaidi who has been allocated the number 24 shirt for the 2013/14 season, is in contention to make his debut in tonight's Capital One Cup tie against Walsall at the Britannia Stadium.
