Sunderland 2-2 Southampton: Manager Reaction And Player Ratings

Southampton Player Ratings

Artur Boruc: 5 - Looked to be carrying an injury, and should perhaps have prevented Borini's goal from going in. Dejan Lovren: 7 - Played well before his injury, topped off with a good goal in the first half. Jose Fonte: 7 - Another defender that kept Sunderland at bay, should have scored with his headed effort. Luke Shaw: 5 - Should be playing better if he wants a shot in the England team. Should have done much better to prevent both of Sunderland's goals. Morgan Schneiderlin: 6 - Another player than should have played much better in defence, despite his assist for Rodriguez. Steven Davis: 7 - Looked dangerous at times, particularly with set pieces. Had a lot of space in the first half. Jack Cork: 8 - Stand out defender for me, despite the lack of threat from Sunderland in most of the game. Adam Lallana: 6 - His manager and fans will have been disappointed with the England international's performance today. Hardly featured. Callum Chambers: 7 - Had a lot of freedom in the first half and a decent effort. Played more defensive in second half. Good game for the youngster. Rickie Lambert: 6 - Should have played better, was invisible at times. However, when he was visible he was very unselfish. Jay Rodriguez: 8 - Superb goal, superb performance and unlucky not to score more than one. Gaston Ramirez was stretchered off with a bad looking injury, and wasn't on the field long. Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse also didn't spend long enough on to make an impact.
