Sunderland Transfer News: Danny Rose Looks Set For Spurs Stay
London Evening Standard. Rose impressed on-loan at the Stadium of Light last season, but it appears that he will not be heading back there for the new campaign. The left-back was one of the few bright sparks in a tough season for the Black Cats as they battled relegation successfully. Rose played 27 games for Sunderland and also scored his first goal since his famous volley in the north London derby, back in 2010. Paolo Di Canio is keen to bring the player to Sunderland permanently but Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas looks to have decided to hold onto the English left-back as he prepares to listen to offers for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who has become surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane. The Standard have also reported that Villas-Boas does not even want to let the 23-year-old go out on-loan this coming season as he wants to build a squad with strength in depth. Rose has been named in the Spurs squad that will compete against Sunderland at the Barclays Asia Trophy later this month.
