Sunderland Transfers: 10 Players Sam Allardyce Must Sign
6. Andy Carroll (West Ham)
Yeah, it would be hugely controversial, but there's no denying Andy Carroll would improve and introduce a whole new dimension to Sunderland's team. Jermain Defoe has been in fine form this campaign, but in recent games the lack of a physical presence has been blatant. Carroll has already been a classic Sam Allardyce targetman, and he could be once again if the price is right. Purely based on his injury record, West Ham would need to lower their drastic valuation of £18 million if Sunderland are to go anywhere near ex-Newcastle man Carroll, but as a player, he would be a great addition. Steven Fletcher's days on Wearside MUST be coming to an end, while Danny Graham should follow suit. Sunderland have Defoe and Borini, but they need a big, big man leading the line. Maybe it's unlikely right now, but Carroll will surely be a lingering prospect.
