Sunderland Transfers: 5 Signings Black Cats Still Need To Make

2. Cristian Rodriguez

Rumours that Rodriguez was 'a small step away' from a potential move to Sunderland surfaced a few weeks ago but then it appeared the Black Cats couldn't meet his wage demands and the deal looked to have stopped altogether. However, the reports and rumours have risen again as the Borini deal drags on and replacements for him may direct Congerton and Poyet back to the Uruguay winger from Atletico Madrid. The midfielder, who only played a handful of games for the La Liga title winners, managed to feature in every Uruguay game during the Brazil 2014 World Cup and hopefully he is still interested in a move to the English premier league. With Poyet being a legend in Uruguay this can only but help him be convinced that a move to Wearside is the best choice for his career at this moment in time. However, with Rodriguez on at least £60,000 a week at Atletico we will need to ensure that we can afford to bring him in whilst not upsetting any other players who feel they deserve a higher paid contract.
