GK - Darren Ward

Darren Ward played the majority of the 2006/07 season due to Ben Alnwick's bad early form. The Welshman found himself back on the bench upon the Black Cats' return to the Premier League, following the signing of highly-rated Scottish international Craig Gordon. Ward failed to break back into the first team and was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but failed to make a single appearance after sustaining an injury. He was released by the club in 2009 and is currently a goalkeeping coach at Sheffield United.
