Leadbitter found himself a victim of Steve Bruce's reshuffle, and was shipped to Ipswich alongside Carlos Edwards in September 2009. Ever since leaving the Stadium of Light, the local has impressed greatly wherever he has played. He became a first team regular for the entirety of his three-season contract at Ipswich, before signing a deal with Middlesbrough in 2012. Grant featured heavily in Boro's 2014/15 promotion push, a campaign which saw them fall at the final hurdle in a Playoff Final with Norwich. Despite this, Leadbitter's consistency led to him featuring in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.
