Another player who arrived to much hype, Tore Andre Flo arrived off the back of successful spells at Chelsea and Rangers. Sunderland's second most expensive purchase at the time, the Norwegian scored on his debut, an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester United. When Peter Reid was sacked, Flo was dropped from the team by new boss Howard Wilkinson, who publicly called the striker's fitness into question. He never made a meaningful impact again, and was released the next season following the team's relegation. Where Is He Now: After leaving Sunderland, Flo became a journeyman across different European leagues. He played in Italy and his homeland before cropping up in England again with Leeds United and MK Dons. He eventually retired at the end of the 2011/12 season.
