Sunderland's Worst XI Of The 21st Century

11. Andy Gray

Andy Gray was a highly rated striker at Championship club Sheffield United when Mick McCarthy signed him to lead the line in Sunderland's return to the Premier League. This proved to be a very unwise decision, as Gray scored just one goal in 22 league appearances. Although a fairly cheap investment at just over £1,000,000, his lack of goalscoring form was a major factor in Sunderland's worst ever top flight performance (and the worst of any Premier League team at the time). The team amassed a measly 15 points in the entire campaign, winning only three games in total. Where Is He Now: Gray is currently a free agent, having spent the majority of his post-Wearside career in the Championship with teams such as Burnley, Charlton and Barnsley.
