With the race for the Premier League title not yet over (mathematically speaking), the battle to finish in the top four hotting up and the scrap to survive relegation becoming ever more intriguing with each passing week, the strive to finish mid-table is often overlooked. Yet for both sides, that should be considered a fantastic accomplishment - particularly for Southampton. Their rise from League 1 to the Premier League in just two seasons has been remarkable but this season, the club's only ambition must surely have been to stay in the top flight. They've made a fist of that at times and have had a few hairy moments - evident by the dismissal of Nigel Adkins - but they look like they've finally clawed themselves to safety this term. Swansea meanwhile can have few complaints this season either. Their Capital One Cup win was a crowning moment in their season and though they are currently enduring a patchy run of form that has seen them pick up four points since that victory at Wembley, fans can be content in the knowledge that the club is heading in the right direction under Michael Laudrup.
Predicted Scoreline
Swansea 0 - 0 Southampton These two sides have pretty much achieved what they set out to do this season. Swansea look set to finish in the top half of the table while Southampton have virtually avoided relegation - there's little else either sets of fans could have hoped for this term. As such, I can see the season petering out for both clubs and I'm going for a drab 0-0.
