The Best XI Of Players Sold By Manchester City

Like Jerome Boateng before him, Savic too played for just one season at Manchester City. He was a part of the squad that lifted the club's maiden Premier League title in 2012, but merely an understudy to Vincent Kompany.

He made just 12 appearances in the league, and came under criticism for poor performances. The Montenegrin appeared nervous on the ball, misplaced too many passes, and crucially, even conceded a penalty against Liverpool in a League Cup match that resulted in Manchester City's loss.

He was sold to Fiorentina that summer and thereafter, his graph has only seen an upward trajectory. He was instrumental in helping La Viola finish inside the league's top four for three consecutive years before Atletico Madrid were prompted to pay out his services in 2015.

Savic has since taken turns to partner Diego Godin at the heart of the backline with Jose Gimenez, but became a regular after Godin's departure to Inter Milan last year.
