The Most Expensive England XI Of All Time

10. RWB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - £49.5 Million

Given how so many of England's most expensive players are defenders, this XI lines up in 5-4-1 formation, so apologies to those who like attacking football.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka stands out in this team as the only player who hasn't been capped at senior level. As a youth, he played as a winger but was forced to fill in at full-back amidst an injury crisis at hometown club Crystal Palace. The Eagles' academy product was an instant hit at Selhurst Park and became an ever present in their back-line, thanks to his excellent speed, tackling ability and one-on-one defending.

His reputation grew exponentially and last summer he moved to Manchester United to become England's most expensive full back of all time. But despite carrying over his great form to Old Trafford, he has been continually overlooked by Gareth Southgate. But with Euro 2020 delayed, he now has another chance to work his way into the England manager's plans.

At just 22 years of age, Wan-Bissaka still has plenty of time to establish himself as a legend for club and country.
