Tottenham Transfer News: Rafael Van der Vaart To Leave White Hart Lane?
Freshly installed Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-boas is set to cash in on unsettled midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
London Evening Standard. Regardless of any pleas from the fans, the former Chelsea boss is set to sacrifice the Euro 2012 star in order to recoup funds that can be used to rebuild the Spurs squad. Van der Vaart has been linked with several clubs following Harry Redknapp's shock departure this summer, including moves to German sides Schalke and his former club Hamburg. With the 29-year-old Dutch international only costing £8 million in a cut-price switch from Real Madrid in 2010, Spurs believe they can command a higher sum of £11 million, all of which would be invested back into the squad this summer. With the potential departure of Luka Modric looking likely, Villas-Boas has just over a month before the start of next season to recreate a new Spurs, with young, talented and lethal players that can shoot them back into the Champions League spaces. Villas-Boas has been interested in bringing in several big names to White Hart Lane, including Poland and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski as well as the French number 1 goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.
