Transfer Deadline Day: Every Premier League Club's Best Signing Of The Window

16. Burnley - Jay Rodriguez

It feels so long ago now that Jay Rodriguez was seen as one of the brightest talents in English football. As a member of Mauricio Pochettino's Southampton, he set the league on fire and was often linked to some of the biggest teams in the Premier League. Those moves never materialised, and eventually, Rodriguez found his way to West Bromwich Albion in a campaign that saw them face relegation.

Despite this apparent downward trajectory in his career, Rodriguez was stellar for West Brom last season, notching 22 goals and 6 assists. These performances caught the eye of Burnley, who picked him up for £10M this summer. At 30 years of age, it may be unlikely to see Rodriguez completely change the Burnley squad, but players like Glenn Murray and Jamie Vardy have shown before that age isn't always an obstacle for English strikers.

Burnley have often struggled with a lack of depth, evident through their massive struggles last season which saw them drop from the Europa League position to 15th in the league. while their squad has always been known for their strong defence, the signing of Rodriguez may hopefully bring some much-needed goals to the side.
