10 Shocking UFC Fighter Arrests
5. Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva has always seemed like somebody you would never want to cross, and in his eyes that was exactly what Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Pablo Popovitch did earlier this year.
In January 2014, Thiago's wife Thaysa left him and filed for a temporary injunction for protection against Silva after he allegedly stuck a gun in her mouth and threatened to kill her. After she left Silva, she apparently sought comfort in the arms of Popovitch, leading to Thiago arriving there on February 6th.
What Thiago did next made sure that if the UFC didn't want to cut him before, they would then. He drunkenly arrived at Popovitch's BJJ gym, which had a class of people inside - including his estranged wife Thaysa. Silva then proceeded to threaten to shoot each of the 25 members of the class. Luckily he did not, but he did end up fleeing back to his nearby house in Oakland Park, California. He was arrested and tased by members of a SWAT team.
He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and non-violently resisting an officer; the attempted murder charges were later lessened to aggravated assaults by a Broward County judge, who also deemed Silva a flight risk and denied him bond.
He has since been released and has his next MMA fight next month, though not with the UFC.
