10 Shocking UFC Fighter Arrests

4. Hermes França

Former UFC lightweight title contender Hermes França was arrested back in 2011 after handing himself over to the authorities.

This is where the lives and crimes of the UFC veterans start to get really dark and twisted. He was charged with seven counts of sexual abuse in the first degree as well as two counts of unlawful sexual penetration in the second degree, to a minor under the age of 14 who he was teaching at his martial arts school in Oregon. Even though he handed himself in, he still initially pleaded not guilty to all charges. Eventually he admitted he was guilty of one charge of unlawful sexual penetration and first degree sexual assault.

For all of these charges - which could have resulted in 75 months for each one - França received a jail term of only 42 months, and was released earlier this year.

Following his jail term, França was deported back to Brazil. As he was deported from the United States, he has not been registered on the sex offenders register and will not require supervision over the course of the next four years following his release.

Like Thiago Silva, França is scheduled to fight again next month.
