6. Can Uriah Hall Live Up To The High Expectations?
Gregory Payan/AP/Press Association ImagesIt had been quite some time, since a fighter on "The Ultimate Fighter" received major publicity. Uriah Hall had been praised for his dominant performances on that particular season and was even
called a contender by Chael Sonnen. His knockouts were beyond vicious to where nobody could even cheer. These knockouts portrayed him as this killer, yet he was always known as one of the nicer guys in the sport. The expectations that were placed on him seemed to have taken a toll. He lost his first two fights in the UFC by split decision, where Dana White criticized him for
not being mentally strong. Could you imagine going from being portrayed as a killer to now being publicly criticized for not being mentally strong? Dana couldn't have been more correct though, as Hall admitted to having an identity crisis. While he defeated Chris Leben at UFC 168, he's still trying to find his identity. I had the opportunity to interview him last February during the UFC's black history month tour. Hall talked exclusively about
his rough childhood and
trying to find his identity. The struggle comes from setting apart who he is from being inside the octagon to outside in a regular setting. He is a fascinating person, who more people will gravitate to by first beating Thiago Santos.
