UFC: Ranking George St. Pierre's 12 Title Fight Wins

4. GSP vs. Matt Serra II

Matt Sera shocked the world by knocking GSP out in the first round of their title fight at UFC 69. No one, including the champ himself, felt that Serra had a shot. That was probably St. Pierre's undoing in their first meeting. Serra had won Season 4 of The Ultimate Fighter, entitled "The Comeback" - which saw more experienced fighters competing for a title shot. Serra was 8-4 heading into the show and had lost to B.J. Penn and Karo Parisyan amongst others in the UFC. To say his win over GSP was a huge upset is an understatement. It remains one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. And having that on his record did not sit well with GSP. He set out to avenge the loss and get his title back, and did so in a way that made us understand that the first fight was a fluke, the result of early-career arrogance on the part of the champ. The rematch marked the UFC's first ever event in GSP's home country of Canada, and he pressed the action early. Serra was unable to mount any offence, and by the second round was taking crushing knees to the body that ended in a TKO victory for GSP. He had made a statement, and got his revenge.
