4. Malky Mackay
Another option (and an ironic one, at that) is Malky Mackay, the Cardiff manager whose side brought to an end Clarke's time at the Hawthorns following their 1-0 win over West Brom on Saturday. Mackay is currently
at loggerheads with Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, who is said to be "extremely upset" after Mackay suggested he was looking to sign as many as three new players in January. Tan believes Mackay has already had sufficient funds of which to invest in the side, and chief executive Simon Lim has said "not a single penny" will be made available in the New Year. And those comments are bound to put Mackay on a collision course with The Bluebirds, particularly if he feels that he is being undermined by the club's hierarchy. It will be interesting to see how things develop over at Cardiff City Stadium and if Mackay decides to walk out on the club to take the West Brom job in light of these hostilities.
