West Ham 1-3 Arsenal - 5 Things We Learned

4. Olivier Giroud is Not a Bad Player

Giroud had two fantastic opportunities to break his duck in the Premier League on Saturday before he finally scored his goal. He also had several great opportunities to score in the Champions League fixture midweek after coming on as a substitute in the final 10 minutes, and it has become very clear to me that Giroud has the necessary technical acumen to become a regular on the score sheet. Giroud's movement leading up to his goal today showed a player brimming and bustling with desire, and his goal celebration revealed a player who is hungry for more. Giroud is known more for his aerial prowess in front of goal, but it was difficult to showcase those particularly set of skills when Andy Carroll was winning more than 3/4 of aerial challenges. Even though he missed a glorious opportunity to further enhance his reputation in the closing minutes of the game after being fed in through on goal by Carzola, he time his run to perfection, and no one will be complaining with a scoreline of 3-1 with the game basically dead and buried.
