West Ham: 10 Reasons Andy Carroll Has Been A Waste Of Money

2. His Cheaper Teammates Are Better

This seasons surprise package has been the emergence of summer signing Diafra Sakho at West Ham. Signed from Metz for a reported £4.5m, he had never played in the French top division, Ligue 1, before signing for West Ham. However, he had compiled a goal record of 39 league goals in 70 games as he led Metz to back-to-back promotions in France. The Senegalese international hasn't disappointed since his move to Upton Park either, scoring 8 goals in 16 league games, compared to Carroll's return of 5 goals in 14 league matches this season. Sakho, who is a willing runner in behind a defence as well as pulling out wide to attack the full backs, has captured the imagination of fans at Upton Park and has fully justified the fee paid for him, unlike Carroll who still has a way to go in the eyes of many to justify his transfer fee.
