Where Are They Now: Jürgen Klopp's First Liverpool XI

4. Mamadou Sakho

Mamadou Sakho was brought to Liverpool by Brendan Rodgers in 2013, and the centre back was able to establish himself as a favourite with both his manager and the fans, thanks to his unorthodox yet effective playing style. The Frenchman was even able to take Liverpool legend Dan Agger's place in central defence.

However, after Jürgen Klopp replaced the man who brought him to Anfield, his career soon turned sour, and it was clear he wouldn't be staying a Red for too much longer. Sakho controversially failed a routine drugs test in 2016, and was sent home from the team's pre-season tour of the USA for breaking team rules.

From then on, the defender couldn't get near the first team, and was eventually shipped out to Crystal Palace on loan in January of 2017. Sakho made just eight appearances while on loan with the Eagles, but made enough of an impact to convince Palace to make the transfer permanent.

In the three years since his £24 million move, Sakho has made 60 league appearances, scoring one goal, a very dramatic 92nd minute winner against Stoke City back in 2017.
