Why Manchester United MUST Sack Jose Mourinho

3. His Tactics Are Outdated, Boring And Embarrassing

Pundits and fans are blind as to why it takes going behind for Manchester United to perform, yet the reason is very obvious when looking at how the team is always set-up. Regardless if the Red Devils are playing away or at home, Mourinho consistently tells the squad to sit back and defend.

Just looking at the starting eleven makes the emphasis on defence obvious with attack-minded players like Fred and Andreas Pereira being subjected to the bench for slow, clumsy and aged midfielders Fellaini and Matić. Not only that, but the exciting Pogba is forced to play deep to help babysit the back four when he should be further up combining with Martial, Rashford and Lukaku.

When focusing on the sleep-inducing performance against Juventus on Tuesday, it’s impossible not to be embarrassed. Despite being away, the Old Lady had more possession and shots, while Manchester United hopelessly flung in crosses that Chiellini and Bonucci always headed away due to being a strength of theirs. However, although Mourinho’s side never once looked like scoring, the Portuguese refused to change his predictable tactics and made zero substitutions despite having Pereira, Fred and the exciting youth Tahith Chong at his disposal.

Mourinho’s outdated tactics are exposed whenever a team has pace and can pass, which is why United have lost to Tottenham, West Ham, and Juventus, as well as having been outplayed by Wolves and Valencia. The fact that there are fans and ex United legends who still defend the miserable Portuguese’ pragmatic, boring and Stoke City-esque approach is sickening.
