Wolves Manager: Top 5 Candidates To Replace Stale Solbakken

3. Alan Curbishley

Curbishley Wolves made Alan Curbishley their number one choice to replace Mick McCarthy after his dismissal last February. So much so that they made not one, but two attempts to convince him to take over. They interviewed him for the vacancy, and when he knocked them back, they made a repeated effort in a bid to make him change his mind, which he again turned down, citing they did not share the same vision for the club. The former Charlton Athletic and West Ham United manager has not worked in management since 2008 but is still quite revered. During his spell at Charlton, where he spent 16 years, he almost guided the club to Champions League qualification in the 2003/04 season, and was at one point tipped to take over as Liverpool manager. A stint at West Ham followed, where he helped them avoid relegation before leading them to a top ten finish in his two years in charge. He hasn't managed since then, but perhaps Wolves will make a third bid to persuade him to take over at the Molineux? Chances - 7/10 Curbishley was clearly highly regarded by Wolves when they were trying to find a replacement for Mick McCarthy, but the two parties did not share the same vision for the club at the time. Almost a year has passed since then - whether or not Wolves make a third attempt to land him remains to be seen. Source(s): BBC
