Memories of the 1994 World Cup seem to revolve around a pair of missed penalties - Roberto Baggio's skied effort to hand the trophy to Brazil, and Diana Ross' woefully shanked kick in the frankly ludicrous opening ceremony. Thankfully the USA have come a long with regards to "soccer" in the last two decades, and now has enough credibility to host a fantastic tournament if needed. The States were passed over in favour of Qatar for the host of the 2022 World Cup, a tournament which looks less likely to materialise with each passing allegation aimed at FIFA. Handing the competition to a country with a number of iconic locations, one of the fastest-growing leagues in world football, and (perhaps most importantly) the climate to hold a summer World Cup, would be a very good decision. Ideal Final Venue: Rose Bowl, Pasadena - host of the 1994 World Cup Final and five Super Bowls.
