World Cup 2018: 8 Pieces Of History That Were Made
4. Croatia Come From Behind
Croatia certainly made it hard for themselves on the way to reaching their first ever World Cup final. After topping Group D with relative ease, picking up nine points out of a possible nine against Nigeria, Argentina, and Iceland, the Croats struggled through the group stages.
In the round of 16, Croatia conceded against Denmark within the first minute of the game, eventually having to rely on extra time and penalties to progress. Again, in the Quarter Final against Russia, Croatia found themselves 1-0 down against the hosts before scraping through on penalties.
No England fan will ever forget Kieran Trippier's free kick against Croatia in the Semi Final which, once again, put the eventual finalists 1-0 down, only for Modric and co. to progress after extra time.
This marked the first time in World Cup history a nation reached the final after conceding the first goal in each of their knockout games. This really is a testament to Croatia's spirit that through all that, and all the extra time they had to play, they never gave up.
