World Matchplay Of Darts 2014: 10 Most Likely Potential Winners

5. Peter Wright

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzfgYgjyRbs Peter 'Snakebite' Wright has burst onto the darting scene in recent seasons, with 2013/14 being his most successful yet. He was runner-up in the World Championships to Dutch dynamo Michael van Gerwen after knocking out numerous big names en route to the final. One of the encouraging aspects for Wright is that he seems to be taking his success in his stride and is not getting overawed by his new-found popularity. This is a good sign and seems to show that Wright will be looking to build on his accomplishments and develop further as a player. Seeing as his blistering form is relatively new, his best World Matchplay finish is only the second round, which he achieved last year. He'll be expected to do much better this year, starting with his first round clash with Stephen Bunting. 'The Bullet' Bunting could be a tricky customer for Wright, but the Scotsman should have the skill to progress. If he does he will start to come across the opponents he was beating regularly in the 2014 Premier League, knowing he has the edge over a number of them.
