World Matchplay Of Darts 2014: 10 Most Likely Potential Winners

4. Gary Anderson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR6DzvsvmQ4 Gary Anderson, currently ranked 11th in the world, has had a much improved season so far in 2014. After experiencing a great deal of 'double trouble' in 2013, Anderson has put that behind him and now appears to be back close to his best. He enjoyed a solid run in the Premier League, finishing fourth and qualifying for the play-offs. He lost in the semi-finals to Michael van Gerwen, but by no means disgraced himself. Added to his good run in the Premier League, Anderson has picked up five titles this season away from the TV cameras. He'll be looking to take his good form to Blackpool, where he has surprisingly never progressed further than the second round. His first round opponent, Jamie 'Jabba' Caven, has also never gone past the second round so both players will be looking to get off to a good start. This could be one of the top contests of the first round, with Caven proving a difficult opponent for any of the top players. He proved this during the 2014 World Championships when he took the first set against van Barneveld, only to unluckily lose 4-3. Anderson should have the scoring power to outplay Caven and then he will grow in confidence and push for his best ever Matchplay finish. If he is to lift the title then he has to have a doubles percentage of around 50%, as his scoring power can only take him so far.
