19 Things We Learned From Steve McClaren's BBC Radio Newcastle Interview

6. Moussa Sissoko Will Be The Heartbeat Of The Newcastle Team, But Steve Doesn't Know Where He Will Play Him

Newcastle €œcannot lose€ Moussa Sissoko according to McClaren because he wants to €œbuild a team around€ the Frenchman.
€œWe cannot lose Moussa, I know there€™s a lot of interest but he€™s under contract. €œOn my first day he walked into my office, a specimen of a man, an absolute presence and a great manner - very professional and low maintenance. €œI€™ve said to Lee Charnley: €˜Wow, we€™ve got to keep this guy.€™ I want to build a team around him.€
Although Steve still isn't quite sure where he will play him...
"I'm toing and froing about his best positions and I'm just truing to play to his strengths, and his strengths are his runs from box-to-box. I think he's such a threat in the final third and I want him in that final third as many times as possible because I often say to him - and there's a lot more goals in Moussa - look at that goal against West Ham (United). He powers a header into the back of the net and two defenders were sprawled on the floor. "What a powerhouse. "And when he gets in that box and in those positions he can score goals. "I see him play for his national team on the outside right of a three - everyone sees him differently."
