York City 2-1 Newcastle United - Player Ratings

11. Aleksandar Mitrovic - 6

The big talking point of the night was Aleksandar Mitrovic's Newcastle debut. With Steve McClaren claiming at the weekend that the Serbian striker may only be ready for a "few minutes", it was somewhat of a surprise to see him in the starting line-up. However, Mitrovic - wearing the same No 45 shirt he donned at Anderlecht - took to the field and last 70 minutes at Bootham Crescent. Unfortunately, no debut goal arrived. The endeavour was certainly there - at points Mitrovic could be seen screaming at his teammates to pass him the ball as he ran around with his arm flapping about in the air - but the end product was not quite right just yet. In terms of how Mitrovic played, he will certainly be frustrated that he didn€™t find the back of the net in the 70 minutes he was on the pitch despite having had plenty of chances. However, McClaren will be very pleased that his new striking acquisition is getting into the right positions. That is a positive sign going forward.

Lewis Suddick - 5.5

Grandson of former Magpie Alan Suddick - who played for Newcastle during the 1960s - the 17-year-old forward came on for his Newcastle United debut in the 70th minute. One debutant replacing another, Suddick had once chance from the edge of the area that was well smothered by the York City keeper but, aside from that, he didn't really get the opportunity to shine. Hopefully a player Newcastle fans will see a lot more of going forward.
