10 Most Terrifying Deaths In Modern Doctor Who

1. Game Station Exterminations

Perhaps the darkest episode of the revival series's first season, The Parting of the Ways saw some of Doctor Who's most terrifying and heartbreaking exterminations by the Daleks.

With the Daleks infiltrating the Game Station, those who had volunteered to fight the invaders prepared for attack. The innocent contestants remained on the lower levels, where they presumed they'd be safe.

Unfortunately, the Daleks planned to exterminate everyone - and the unarmed civilians were the first to go. The Doctor's new friend and potential travelling companion Lynda Moss watched the massacre on her view screen - supposedly safe behind a blast door. The Doctor and Captain Jack had assured her that nothing was coming through that door - and they were technically right.

Attempting to burn through the blast door, the Assault Daleks retreated and instead allowed a group of Daleks to fly up the outside of the Game Station.

In position directly in front of Lynda's view window, the Daleks' 'ear lights' lit up to the tune of 'EXTERMINATE' - but no sound could be heard in the vacuum of space. Bracing herself, Lynda screamed as the window shattered. Exposed to the vacuum, she was killed instantly.

Elsewhere, the Daleks continued their assault - gunning down the programmers and even Captain Jack Harkness - who was fortunately resurrected by Rose Tyler. The other brave heroes who had fought to protect the Earth in the Game Station weren't as lucky.
