5 TV Shows That Disappointed After Initial Brilliance

1. Californication €“ Season 5

Californication Californication probably should have turned the Season 4 finale into the series finale, with Hank riding into the sunset as the lasting image of the show. Instead, it limped on, and continues to limp on, with almost no meaning left in the show. The reason why original fans loved the show is because of the complicated nature of Hank€™s relationships with his family and friends. The entire mood of the first season was incredible and as close to perfect as a show has ever come during its first season, but by the time this season aired, almost all of that had changed. There was a time when Hank was resistant to having his treasured novel turned into a movie. There was a time when Hank was picky about his projects, when he refused to compromise his artistic freedom by churning out popular writing. And then there was a different time when Hank would be completely fine with writing the memoirs of a rapper that he doesn€™t even know, and when he would be able to write a pop song without any prior experience in the art. My biggest problem with Californication during Season 5 is that the show turned into a cartoony version of itself. There are no consequences for actions during the season. Hank goes on a ride-along with Runkel and Apocalypse, they end up stealing a police car, and at the end of the episode they get arrested. Season 1 of the show, Hank would have been in jail until he faced the consequences of his actions. Season 5, however, and it€™s as if it didn€™t even happen. I hope that Californication can return to its glory days, but with its rising popularity, I fear that the show is playing to its audience, and I guess I can€™t blame it for that. I just wish things were different.
