4. Some Answers On HurtGate
Moffat ended The Name of the Doctor perfectly. He threw a grenade right into the Whoniverse as we know it and let it blow. Theres no better way to engage fandoms in the online age than to get them speculating, and the introduction of John Hurt is easily on a par with Moffs own Sherlock series 2 finale in that sense. Now that weve had months of speculation though, everyone is hoping for some answers. Is he Doctor 8.5? Is he the Valeyard? Is he pre-Hartnell? (8.5 has my vote) fans want to know, dont keep that from them! Equally, this is Moffats perfect opportunity to tie up some old questions which have tantalised fans for years. Such as, what happened to McGanns Doctor? Which incarnation killed the Time Lords? Had Eccleston only just regenerated minutes before meeting Rose? We all know the Moff loves a tease, but it would be great to celebrate the shows anniversary by tying all the different eras together into an accepted cannon we can watch through again and again. Equally, the Moff has a big loose end of his own to deal with.
