Doctor Who: 20 Genius DeviantART Creations You Need In Your Life
13. Tennant's Who
By: Steveroberts Caricature can take many different forms and exploit various angles. Do you want to insult, exaggerate, simplify, emphasise, etc? The caricatures I like best must, to my mind, demonstrate a quality about the personality hidden behind the face. This is just such an example. At the very least it must be well executed, so no problems here. The picture has been built up over what I imagine was a hand-drawn sketch using layers of airbrushed paint on the desktop. Whether or not all, or some, of it is digital the technique is itself stunning and the colour selection is judged perfectly. You will find the glassy, doll-eyed, effect is evident in all the artist's pictures if you take the time to visit his pages. You'll be well rewarded if you do so. In this picture the trademark Tenth incarnation's puzzlement and dawning realisation of something spectacularly dangerous about to occur has been captured perfectly. It is one for fan girls and fan boys alike. It is indeed, Tennant's Who.
Hello, I'm Paul Hammans, terminal 'Who' obsessive, F1 fan, reader of arcane literature about ideas and generalist scribbler. To paraphrase someone much better at aphorisms than I: I strive to write something worth reading and when I cannot do that I try to do something worth writing. I have my own Dr Who oriented blog at http://www.exanima.co.uk
