Every Star Trek Film & TV Show Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999)

Star Trek Seven And Janeway
CBS

Deep Space Nine changed the Trek format by showing us life aboard a space station in depth for the first time. As the series progressed and the Dominion War began, Deep Space Nine proved to be a much darker series than the ones before it. Most fans praise that aspect of the show, though many prefer the relative peace of the Federation prior to the war.

Nearly every main character in Deep Space Nine goes through a lot of significant changes over the course of the series and all of their arcs are satisfying and wrap up beautifully along with the main story about the Bajoran wormhole and the extra-dimensional aliens residing within it.

The Dominion War makes Deep Space Nine the most important station in the Federation. Watching how characters like Sisko evolve as war sweeps across the quadrant is both heartbreaking and fascinating. The history of the Changelings is also really compelling, as well as Odo's relationship with them. All of this makes Deep Space Nine one of the best Star Trek series yet.
