10 Times WWE Failed To Pass The Torch
6. Kurt Angle To Baron Corbin (WrestleMania 35)
It'd be all too easy to simply litter this next entry with a gluttony of 'you suck!' chants aimed in the direction of Baron Corbin.
However, it's probably wiser to focus on how the unlikely passing of the torch moment between Kurt Angle and Corbin at WrestleMania 35 really didn't achieve as much as it could have.
Corbin had obviously been a massive pain in Angle's backside throughout his tenure as Raw's General Manager. So, when he was announced as the star set to take on Angle in his last ever match - though many were p*ssed off - it sort of made sense.
Angle was a bonafide star and if anyone needed the exposure that would come from taking down the Olympic Hero on the Grandest Stage it was the flaccid Corbin.
Yet, despite the fact that he won the match and was showered with boos in the aftermath, Corbin didn't become the next big heel star that this win should have set him up to be.
Instead, he continued to elicit 'go-home' heat and just when fans started to appreciate him for what he was - a throwback bad guy which you genuinely despised - he went and got himself involved in a god awful canine-centric feud with 'The Big Dog' Roman Reigns.
His passing of the torch moment - courtesy of the departing serial entertainer - was made to look like a failure purely because Corbin chose to pick right up where he left off before what should have been a career-defining win.
