6 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 14th)

7. The Opposite Of Self-Aware

As a heel commentator JBL often has to say outlandish things. This is a tradition that goes back many years. Jesse €œThe Body€ Ventura often would make ridiculous claims, only for Gorilla Monsoon to call him on it.

But one thing JBL said Monday was just so egregious that it has to be noted here. At the outset of the Sin Cara/Ryback match, JBL observed that a €œgood big guy beats a good little guy every time.€ He said it emphatically and tried to defend it until Byron Saxton (of all people) pointed out that Kalisto had won the U.S. title twice over a bigger guy.

But the problem here is JBL€™s own personal history. He lost his last singles match (and the Intercontinental Championship) at WrestleMania XXV to Rey Mysterio. In 21 seconds. Last time we checked, Rey was a little guy and JBL was a big guy. (In fact, Rey and JBL have faced each other 11 times through the years, and Mysterio won seven of those bouts.)

Yes, heel commentators often make outlandish comments. But JBL and the announcers have referenced that match multiple times on Raw, often when talking about Kalisto being successful against bigger opponents.
