6. Jack Swagger
Recent WWE fans may be shocked to learn that Jack Swagger actually held a major singles title in 2010, but yes, it did happen! At WrestleMania 26 Swagger won the Money in the Bank Ladder match, despite having had no previous build up (but then, neither did any of the other nine wrestlers). More perplexing was that WWE booked Swagger to cash in the briefcase and win the title just two days later on Smackdown, again without any build up to convince fans that Swagger had any headliner qualities. Swaggers run lasted two months (a month and a half longer than most predicted) and included Pay Per View victories over Randy Orton and Big Show. Neither match was memorable, nor stature enhancing and Swagger lost the title at Fatal Four-way in June. Afterwards he was demoted back to the mid-card where the only notable difference was the addition of his mascot the Swagger Soaring Eagle played by Chavo Guerrero (don't ask). Swagger spent the next two years in the mid-card doing nothing of relevance. In Fall 2012 Swagger disappeared completely after telling then GM AJ Lee he was taking time off due to frustration with his career. Who could blame him? He returned to TV in February 2013 with new manager Zeb Colter and was pushed straight into the title picture, winning the Elimination Chamber and facing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 29. His lack of a push afterwards could possibly be attributed to his DUI arrest just weeks before WrestleMania. One could also say his career was damaged by Zeb Colters outdated racist character, which had no place in wrestling in this decade, or any other for that matter. He later formed the Real Americans with Cesaro, but it's clear who the star of that team is. Today Jack Swagger is even less over than he was three years ago, something I didn't believe was possible. Perhaps Swagger really should leave the company. Only this time wait much longer than five months before returning. A year, preferably two and Jack could return with renewed vigor with memories of his current stagnation long forgotten. Even then, I feel confident in saying that he will never win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again.
