Finally, with all of the other reasons put in place, jiujitsu can be an uplifting "journey" if you will.
I don't mean you'll feel like an unstoppable guv'nor that can take on all comers. Seriously, do not go looking for trouble and then blaming me.
For me, besides nerding out, jiujitsu is my other happy place. If you've had a rough day, getting on the mats and ignoring the outside world for an hour or two is so cathartic. Learning techniques and then putting them to use with your friends is such a great way to release stress.
"Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail" is an phrase that'll always stick with me. You can have rolls (sparring) where you dominate, you'll have some where you'll be dominated. You'll have your equals, battles of wits and stalemates along the way too.
But at the end of the day/session, you can walk away happy that you've exercised, learnt something new, and left that stress at the door.
