1. Where Does His Move Leave Liverpool?
TwitterAs Liverpool begin to come to terms with Suarez's exit, many fans have been wondering how their manager can fill the gaping void Luis has left behind. Brendan Rogers has secured an estimated £75 million for his talisman; a fee that he can do a great deal with. He has said that he will be investing this money back into his squad, and true to his word he's already been very active in the transfer window. The major done deals so far are the signings of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can all totalling a reported £37 million. Lambert is a different prospect for Rogers as he is by no means a straight swap for Suarez. However, he is a useful and powerful striker that will definitely have a role to play for Liverpool. Lallana is the star signing; a creative and fluid footballer that should fit seamlessly into Liverpool's set-up. Emre Can is also a high-profile signing from Bayer Leverkusen who has been
compared by some to the likes of Michael Ballack for his ability to both defend and attack from the midfield. Rogers is far from finished in the transfer window as he realises that Liverpool need to greatly strengthen their squad if they are to replace Suarez and compete for the Premier League title as well as the Champions League trophy. He is reportedly close to signing
Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi and Dejan Lovren in a bid to shake up Liverpool's starting eleven.
Markovic, a talented Benfica winger, looks set to have a medical at Anfield in the coming days ahead of a reported £19.8 million deal. In partnership with players such as Sterling and Sturridge, his signing could prove to be a stroke of genius. Origi, currently of Lille, has grabbed the attention of a number of clubs following his promising performances for Belgium at the World Cup. The 19 year old appears to be quick, strong and confident in front of goal. Liverpool are working towards a deal reportedly
in the region of £10 million for the young striker, all helping to fill the void left by Suarez's departure. One of Liverpool's biggest flaws last season lay in their defending. They had no trouble in front of goal, boasting the Premier League's two top goalscorers in their ranks, but it was at the other end that they struggled. By
bringing in Southampton's Dejan Lovren Brendan Rogers is looking to sure up Liverpool's often frail defence. Lovren has impressed whilst at Southampton and should work well alongside the likes of young Flanagan. Understandably the loss of a prolific striker such as Luis Suarez is a body-blow for Liverpool. However, Brendan Rogers has bought well so far and the deals he's closing in on also look to be very shrewd and promising. If he can secure the services of Lovren and Origi especially then there is no reason why Liverpool won't be stronger than they were last season, not weaker. Sturridge has already established himself as a goalscorer. Add him alongside Lambert and Origi, with Sterling and Markovic bombing down the wings and Liverpool look set to be a real threat to Manchester City's Premier League title next season.
