10 Biggest Unsung Heroes In Rangers History

8. Rod Wallace

In amongst all the big-money signings at Rangers during the early months of Dick Advocaat's reign in charge, Rod Wallace seemed out of place. A lot of Gers fans hadn't even heard of the man before he put pen-to-paper on a 3-year deal in 1998. Nonetheless, he quickly made an impression, netting over 40 goals during his spell at the club. Perhaps the best part about his transfer was that Rangers grabbed Wallace for free. Coming to the end of his contract with Leeds United, Advocaat would swoop in and secure his man. Fitting in like he had been at the club all along, Wallace filled the void left by great strikers like Ally McCoist. Scoring important goals in Europe and - crucially - against Celtic, Rod Wallace became an instant hero at Rangers. With that in mind, he's long forgotten, and should be remembered more fondly. Whenever he was on the field, fans were guaranteed 100%, and the wee man was always there to stick the ball in the net.
