10 Football Records That Will Never Be Broken
2. Most Goals In A Single World Cup
In 2014, Colombia's James Rodriguez was awarded the Golden Boot with six goals. Germany's Thomas Muller won 2010's edition in South Africa with five strikes. So just what is the record?
Roll back to 1958 and France's Just Fontaine netted an incredible 13 goals in what turned out to be his sole World Cup. Les Bleus finished the tournament in third place and Fontaine quite magnificently ran away with the top scorer award.
However, Fontaine isn't the all-time leading goalscorer in World Cups overall. That accolade goes to Germany's Miroslav Klose who has slotted him 16 times on the biggest stage - albeit over the course of four tournaments.
Will this record be broken next year in Russia. A betting man would say not!
