However, he did not manage to break into Southampton's first team on a regular basis and moved to Crystal Palace for £1.5 million at the beginning of the 2004-05 campaign. In January 2010, Hall was then signed on loan by Newcastle United for the rest of the Championship season. Following Newcastle's promotion to the Premier League, however, the club decided to not offer Hall a permanent deal and he returned to Queens Park Rangers.
