10 Great Players Liverpool Missed Out On Signing

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

If there is one player that Liverpool fans will regret their club not signing over the years, it's Ronaldo. It's frightening to think what might have happened if they had acquired the signature of the Portuguese legend 11 years ago. Gerard Houllier monitored the progress of the then 18-year-old back in 2003, but felt the club couldn't justify his wage demands. There were some who felt the Frenchman simply didn't feel he was good enough for the hustle and bustle of the Premier League though. Instead, Ferguson signed him for £12.24m that summer, and what he has achieved since has been nothing short of astonishing. Ronaldo simply got better and better during his six years at Old Trafford, which culminated in him winning the PFA Player of the Year award twice in a row and the 2008 World Player of the Year award. His performances earned him a move to Real Madrid for a then world-record fee of £80m, and he has become even more sensational in the five years since. The 29-year-old has scored a, quite frankly, mind-boggling 275 goals in 263 appearances for the current European champions, and is now deservedly seen as one of the finest players ever to play the game. It's ok though, Liverpool signed Harry Kewell. Let us know your 10 Great Players Liverpool Missed Out On Signing in the comments section.Follow Henry on twitter: @HenryJackson87
